a little update on me

I bought my airplane ticket for America today and I’ll be flying home on May 18th out of Tokyo. Because of the time difference between Japan and the United States and the way the flight works out I will arrive in America the same day and nearly the same time that I left Japan. If everything goes smoothly I should be in Nashville, Tennessee by 5:40 pm which allows me one hour and twenty minutes to get from the airport to my brother’s high school graduation. Whether or not I will be able to stay awake for the entire ceremony is yet to be determined. The 27th is my big sister’s big wedding day and we’re all looking forward to that. Woot Woot! ! ! I’ll be returning to Japan on May 31st so mark your calendars. For those of you who are eager excited to see me (uh hum…everyone) then this countdown is for you :

My garden has come a long way since I first started working on it and I am pleased to show pictures. I added an egg plant and a few more flowers that were given to me by one of the schools so I’m looking forward to seeing how those turn out. My neighbor gardens for a living and the other day he came over to check on my progress. Without saying a word he lit a cigarette and took a good long look at what I had been doing. I waited for him to say something, but he just kept looking. After about four deep drags from his cigarette he said, “Get in the car.” We went to his house and he gave me a big bag of fertilizer and some compost to soften the soil. We returned to my house and as he continued to smoke he began giving me orders on what to do next. He didn’t stop smoking the entire time and after about an hour I had my first garden. His name is Mr. Shikine and if there is one thing he knows it’s gardening.

Perhaps you’ve noticed that my blog template changes nearly every day. Maybe you’ve even logged on early in the morning (your time) and seen my page in shambles. The good news is that I am making progress! Curtis and Koko think I am crazy because it seems like for the past couple of weeks I haven’t moved away from my computer as I have been trying to get my page looking exactly the way it should.
