Nagashima's 2nd Annual Jogging 10K Competition
A couple weeks ago Nagashima had its 2nd annual Nagashima 10K Competition and about 500 runners showed up for the event. Keeping the race international Curtis and I along with our friend Tracy from a nearby town also entered making the international count for the race. . . 3 runners.
Because the course is infamous for its hilly terrain anyone even thinking about partaking in the event is considered a superhero! Luckily, I live here which means I was able to practice the course a time or two before race day. During the start of the race I even managed to stay just behind those leading the pack up until about the 5th kilometer and that's when the fast runners began to run faster and then faster until they disappeared over the horizon. I gave it my best and even though I didn’t place in the race, I did come in strong at 7th place with a time of 44 minutes and 40 seconds! Woot woot! (Thanks Jon for the great photographs)
