Weekend getaway to Tanegashima

Not too long ago friends of mine and I spent a weekend getaway in beautiful Tanegashima, an island south of Kagoshima city which takes about 2 hours to reach by speedboat. Upon arriving, we picked up our rental car checked into our cabin where we would be staying and spent the remainder of the afternoon relaxing, eating and leisurely touring the terrain of the island. Luckily for us, friends of ours who teach English in Tanegashima provided a personal guided tour of the island where they introduced many of their favorite spots around town like beaches and even a restaurant serving a variety of authentic Cuban cuisine.

Because Tanegashima is famous for its JAXA Space Center we made sure to check out the space museum. There we got to look at cool space Japanese food like space ramen and space curry rice!
